Comprehensive Eye Exams

We commence each thorough eye examination by not only acquainting ourselves with your eyes but also with you! Our extensively trained technicians will prepare you for consultation with our Optometrists by conducting various screening tests.

Eye Exams in Edmonton

At Lendrum Eye Centre, we believe that routine eye exams are vital for protecting your vision and detecting early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. We recommend annual eye exams for children and seniors, and every two years for healthy adults.

Our comprehensive eye exams in Edmonton go beyond vision correction — we take the time to understand your lifestyle, health history, and individual needs to provide personalized eye care.

Schedule your eye exam today with one of our experienced Edmonton optometrists by calling 780-437-1409. Your eyes deserve expert attention and lasting care.

During your exam with our Optometrists, they will analyze the test results, conduct a comprehensive assessment of your eye health to determine the need for further tests, address the causes of dry eyes, and prescribe eyeglasses accordingly.

Following the examination, you’ll have a consultation with one of our Opticians or stylists. They will address any additional queries, schedule follow-up appointments, and elaborate on the Optometrist’s assessment. This session will also involve cleaning and adjusting your current eyewear. Finally, they will offer personalized recommendations for eyewear and lenses.

What's included in an eye exam?

At Lendrum Eye Centre, your eye health journey begins with a detailed pre-testing session led by our experienced technicians. These assessments provide essential insights before you meet with our optometrists. Your comprehensive eye exam includes:

  • Colour Vision Test
We assess for colour blindness — the inability to distinguish certain colours — using the Ishihara Test. You’ll view a series of coloured dot patterns and identify numbers hidden within them to detect any deficiencies.

  • Eye Pressure Test
This test measures the internal pressure of your eyes, a key factor in identifying early signs of glaucoma.

  • Wide-Angle Retinal Imaging
Using advanced Optomap technology, we capture high-resolution images of your retina. This allows us to detect abnormalities or signs of retinal disease early on.

  • Lower Lid Meibography
We examine your meibomian glands, which are crucial for tear production. Given Alberta’s dry climate, meibography is included in all adult eye exams to help diagnose dry eye disease and guide customized treatment plans.

  • Current Eyewear Measurements
We measure your existing glasses or sunglasses to understand your current prescription and ensure we address your visual needs accurately.

Once you meet with one of our optometrists, they will review all test results and perform further evaluations, including:

  • Overall Eye Health Evaluation
Through a slit lamp examination, we assess the health of the front and internal structures of your eyes, identifying early signs of potential issues before they progress.

  • Visual Acuity Test
We evaluate the sharpness and clarity of your vision by having you read from a standardized eye chart.

  • Refraction Testing
This determines your exact prescription for corrective lenses, ensuring you achieve the best possible vision.

  • Dry Eye Assessment
If dry eye symptoms are present, we identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatments or therapies tailored to your condition.

After your exam, our friendly team of opticians or eyewear stylists will:

  • Answer Your Questions
We’re here to clarify anything about your eye health, test results, or recommended care.

  • Schedule Follow-Up Visits
We’ll help you stay on track with your vision care by booking any necessary follow-up appointments.

  • Eyewear Adjustments and Cleaning
We’ll make sure your current glasses fit well and are clean and comfortable for daily use.

  • Personalized Eyewear Recommendations
Our stylists will help you choose frames and lenses that suit your vision, lifestyle, and style preferences.
